About 3 years ago I started going to Pinnacle gym. Huge step for me because I am far from healthy and definitely not a workout person! My friends and I started going due to a challenge that the gym was having. I have never been into working out, but with their poking and prodding, I decided to give it a try. It was there that I met a fabulous coach, Coach V!!
Coach V offered me more than an opportunity to work out and change my body on the outside, she offered me a friendship that came with love and lots of ways to make me better on the inside!
While we were in the competition, I lost my mom to a horrible disease, diabetes. She fought this battle with food for many years. It was the hardest thing I had ever gone through. I wanted so bad to make things better for her. I decided at that point that this was a sobering wake up call for me. I needed to start listening to my body and my doctors! Coach V and my gym family were there for me both physically and emotionally. I received so much affirmation and guidance during this time of loss.
We won the competition which was great, and continued to workout which was even better. I was able to introduce my family to some new ways to eat and live. I continue to try and do this daily. It is still a battle, but I am working on it one day at a time.
Even though we have moved on from that gym, I continue to workout and use the life skills I learned. Coach V has become a lifelong friend. She is emotionally invested in my health and the health of my family. She always checks on my and my daughter and offers us moral support!
Stepping into the gym and meeting a wonderful mentor was the best thing I could have ever done! I love ya Coach V and can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and passion for life with me!
